DISASTER DRILL NOVEMBER 2003 |
Thursday,
November 13, 2003.
The Drill was a simulated explosion with a chemical release located
at the AES Plant. The object of the drill was to test First Responders
in the Fire and Police Departments on tactics to handle the situation,
to test the ability of the Police, Fire, Public Works and Parks
and Recreations working together in a unified command structure
to mitigate the incident and to have the city department heads open
and staff the city EOC.
CERT Volunteers
were used to set up and staff a full-scale shelter for the evacuated
residents. The shelter was set up with Parks and Recreation at Knob
Hill Community Center. Fire Engineer Herrera was the drill “monitor”
for the shelter.
