Meeting called to order by President, Lisa Burke, at 6:30 p.m. (10 board members present).

 

Names of Board Members taken by Secretary, Margot Hoffman..

 

Chief Dan Madrigal, RB Fire Department provided a brief overview of how the Department supports the community in their Disaster Preparedness goals.

 

Stacy Wyatt, Coordinator of the Medical Reserve Corps, Redondo Beach, Beach Cities Health District, gave a brief synopsis of how her Division supports the Disaster Preparedness goals of the City.

 

 

Motion to approve minutes for February 7th, 2006 was made by Garth McWhorter and seconded by

Bob Heil with the correction that the generators were loaned to RBCERTAA and not gifted to the group..

 

Per Lisa Burke, RBCERT class #31 has many motivated students in it.

 

Lisa Burke announced that the 20th Anniversary CERT Conference is being held at the

Universal Sheraton on May 15, 16 and 17, 2006. More information is available WWW.CERTConference.com

 

 

Per Lisa Burke, the Amgen Bike Race will conclude in Redondo Beach on Sunday, February 25, 2006.

RBCERTAA volunteers will be paired with RB Fire Department personnel. Volunteers are expected to

meet at 8:30 am at a location to be announced. Volunteers must bring their  own emergency bags, CERT helmuts and ID card. Carl Whittaker will be the Incident Commander for the volunteers.

 

Planning meeting for the event as listed above will be on Tuesday, January 21st, 2006 at 6:30 pm on the lower level of Beach Cities Health District, 514 Prospect, Redondo Beach, CA.

 

Per Lisa Burke, RBCERTAA needs to acquire  donations of first aid supplies.

 

Discussion took place regarding the possibility of volunteers obtaining City Volunteer Badges.

 

The Redondo Beach Fire Department open house will take place in May 2006. Since committee members: 

Alisa Zells and Michael Vaccaro were not at the meeting, no further details were discussed.

 

 

Fire Department Corner:

 

Per Capt. Rick Martinez, storage for the generators in the container at Station 2 will not be a problem.

 

 

 OLD BUSINESS:

 

Treasurer’s Report:   

Treasurer Michael Vaccaro was unable to attend the board meeting. His treasury report was not presented nor approved.

 

Per Mike Grady, a check needs to be paid for the reimbursement of funds used to pay for the web site fees.  No amount was mentioned per Mike Grady.

 

Margot Hoffman provided a receipt in the amount of $15l.66 for food from Chicken Dijon which was given to the students at the first RBCERTAA class on February 2, 2006.

 

Discussion ensued regarding the possibility of obtaining a RBCERTAA debit card.

As always, Valerie is doing an outstanding job of maintaining the RBCERTAA web site.

 

Discussion ensued regarding raising money for RBCERTAA from corporate donations.

 

Gary Horn made a motion and Garth McWhorter seconded the motion to accept the Sponsor Recognition Policy document created by Bob Heil. The motion was accepted by a unanimous vote.

 

Discussion regarding the Whole Foods 5% Day was tabled because Michael Vaccaro was unable to attend the board meeting.

 

Jennifer Adam will contact the shirt vendor to discuss the incorrect sizing of polo shirts which we had received in 2005. It should be noted that RBCERTAA ordered 102 assorted sizes of polo shirts from Proforma in the fall of 2005.

 

Per Lisa Burke, graduation for Class 31 will be on Saturday, March 25, 2006.

 

The top four winners of the best CERT bags will receive prizes.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 

 Next board meeting is on March 7th, 2006.

 

Having no further business the Board Meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:45 pm, per motion

made by Gary Horn and seconded by Jennifer Adam.
