NEW BUSINESS:
Per Michael Vacarro, Redondo Beach Fire Service Day in May, 2006 was deemed to be a successful effort regarding community and alumni participation. The raffles were successful. Per Capt. Rick Martinez, many applications for CERT were distributed to potential participants. Per Capt. Martinez,
RBCERT was very visible at the Fire Department Service Day. As a result of donations from Cheer for Children, Alisa Zells and Burke’s Blood Bath for all of our raffle prizes, we collected a total of $457.00 for the Redondo Beach CERT Alumni Association. This was our most successful raffle yet. We will
send a Thank You note out to Cheer for Children for their generous donation.
Marcelle McCullough attended the National CERT Conference on May, 16, 2006 at the Universal Sheraton and stated that it was well worth attending because it gave her insight as to the CERT program. She advised that the Governor’s wife, Maria was a speaker at the conference. Marcelle wanted the RBFD personnel to attend the conference in the future because there was good sharing of information.
Marcelle also stated that the vendors at the conference were excellent.
Class #32 Recruitments – Per Lisa Burke 19 people signed up for the class. Marcelle McCullough has made arrangements for the donation of dinner for the first night’s class from California Pizza Kitchen.
Lisa Burke agreed to send a letter of thanks to California Pizza Kitchen for their generous donation of food.
Lisa Burke wants to challenge the Class #32 graduates to bring in applications from potential students for future CERT classes. Capt. Martinez thought that this was an excellent idea to try and see how it works.
We agreed t otry it at Class #32 graduation day.
Per Capt. Rick Martinez, we need to pass out information sheets to gather current information from CERT grads. Diane Hom need to have current informational updates for alumni contact information. Tania Amural is getting e mails kicked back due to incorrect e mail addresses.
Per Lisa Burke future “Welcome Kits” will contain information sheets to include contact information.
Monty Ruth commented that CERT students should have a list of committees available to them to familiarize themselves with possible choices for future involvement with the alumni association.
Per Bob Heil, more HAM radio operators should be recruited.
Regarding the committee list, Alisa Zells is replacing Dennis Cajilli on the Calendar project.
Margot Hoffman requested that Marcelle McCullough take over the Chairperson position for the Food Committee. Marcelle McCullough agreed to accept this responsibility.
Regarding protection of the Assets and Passwords, Lisa Burke is requesting suggestions on a solution.
That solution would be to have all keys, passwords and other pertinent information locked up in out CERT Filing cabinet as a secondary measure in the even of one’s death or departure of RBCERTAA.
Bob Heil advised that he will conduct an archive compilation. Monty Ruth made a motion that the only person to have access to the CERT file cabinet at Station I will be the current CERT Treasurer or under
extreme circumstances the Executive Board could access the file cabinet. The motion was seconded by
Marcelle Mcullough. All ten board members unanimously approved the motion.
