Meeting called to order by President Lisa Burke at 6:34 p.m. (9 board members present.)

Motion to approve minutes for Sept. 6th, 2005 was motioned first by Alisa Zells and seconded by Michael Vaccaro. Bob Heil abstained from voting because he did read the minutes.

NEW BUSINESS:
President Lisa Burke expressed gratitude for the assistance that she received from Board members and other alumni members who helped at the RBCERT booth at the Public Safety Fair, October 2, 2005. Two hundred applications for RBCERT February class were passed out at the booth.
Fire Department Corner:
Capt. Rick Martinez was pleased with the RBCERTAA booth at the Public Safety Fair
Per Capt. Rick Martinez, the phone tree is a dead issue. The
has contracted with a CALL OUT company which can contact all members within ten minutes
for a $50.00 per month retainer fee.
Per Mike Grady, the pink slip for the Jeep is registered to RBCERTAA. The trailer is registered for five years. The trailer is insured by whatever insurance covers the driver who is towing the van. No insurance is required for the trailer.
Alisa Zells made a motion to transfer the registration address to Fire Station 1and to provide the Secretary with a copy of the registration and pink slip. The motion was seconded by Peter De Portillo. All board members voted unanimously for the motion.
Mike Grady also volunteered to pull the RBCERTAA trailer if his schedule allowed.
Per Mike Grady, the $14.95 monthly payment for the web site needs to be taken over by someone else, because he is no longer a board member. Marcelle McCullough will research the proper procedure for making the monthly payment to Yahoo.
Mike Grady requested to borrow two backboards from the RBCERTAA trailer for Mike Grady’s volunteer EMT job. Gary Horn made a motion to store two RBCERTAA backboards in Mike Grady’s
care. Peter De Portillo seconded the motion. Eleven board members voted yes.
Regarding Mike Grady’s request for RBCERTAA members to
attend the block party at 2200 block of Curtis,
Request for RBCERTAA to man barricades on Halloween in the
City of
Per Lisa Burke, the day of RBCERTAA meetings will remain on the first Tuesday of every month.
Discussion is pending regarding the RBCERTAA request to be a
recipient of a 5% DAY at Whole Foods Market,
Gary Horn made a motion to place a Whole Foods sticker on the RBCERTAA trailer due to a prior commitment to Whole Foods for their generous 5% award of money to our group previously. Peter De Portillo seconded the motion.
Michael Vaccaro and Bob Heil to draft a policy for sponsorship to approve or amend examples of stickers on the RBCERTAA trailer.
Old Business:
Treasurer’s Report:
Motion to approve the treasurer’s report was made by Alisa Zells and seconded by Garth McWhorter. All eleven board members approved the treasurer’s report.
Garth McWhorter submitted a receipt for $5.46 for water for the First Class.
Margot Hoffman submitted a receipt for $115.76 for food for the First Class.
Jennifer Adam submitted $200.00 for donations for apparel.
Drills & Trainings:
The next RBCERTAA graduation will be on
Saturday, October 29, 2005.
Margot Hoffman will help Matt Johnson serve
lunch to everyone in attendance.
The next Continuing Education class regarding Search and Rescue will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2005.
Website (Valerie):Progress is ongoing. As always, Valerie is doing a beautiful job of updating the web site in a timely manner. Calendar:Updates are pending.Alisa will be soliciting articles for an upcoming newsletter. Phone List and addresses of Board Members:Margot Hoffman passed out an updated list of current Board of Director members.
Funding & Equipment:
Per Gary Horn, an EU 1000 and EU 2000 generators were ordered on 9/7/05 from Honda by John Moawad. Generators will be on loan from Honda.
No further information regarding funding was available at this time per Gary Horn.
Lisa Burke, Jennifer Adam and Michael Vaccaro completed an inventory of the RBCERTAA trailer.
Per Garth McWhorter, Redondo Beach City Prosecutor, Alan Honeycutt will follow through on the MAKE AMENDS FUNDS promised to the RBCERTAA.
Gary Horn took pictures of Dennis Cajili and Jeff Adam to be placed on the web site.

Per Margot Hoffman, 102 embroidered fire department polo shirts were ordered. The sizes are as follows:

Video/Photo Committee:
Monty Ruth could not attend the board meeting. Garth McWhorter advised that the Public Safety Commission and the City Council would be good places to play the RBCERTAA video. Discussion ensued regarding the legality of using the audio portion of the video while playing it for the entities as listed above because of the possible royalty rights of the performers. Michael Vaccaro advised that he would look into licensing requirements for artists on the video.
Announcements:
Marcelle McCollough advised that she thought
that the RBCERTAA booth at the Public Safety Fair was awesome. She suggested
that we provide a sign in sheet to allow alumni members to update their
Call-back information. She also suggested that
each class have a class representative. She also suggested RBCERTAA have a
reunion picnic or dinner for CERT alumni.
President, Lisa Burke, thanked Marcelle for her suggestions and agreed
to consider them for discussion in future Board meetings.
The next board meeting is on November 1, 2005.
Having no further business the Board Meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:17 pm, per motion
made by Garth McWhorter and seconded by Alisa Zells.
