Meeting called to order by  President Garth McWhorter at  8:00 p.m. (7 board members present.)

 

Role call done by secretary, member absent:  Gary Horn (excused due to illness)

 

Motion to approve minutes  for August 3rd was made. Passed by 7 board members present.

 

Introductions of our guests: Mr and Mrs Adam

 

Treasurer’s  Report:

 

No treasurer’s report was distributed at this meeting.

 

Elections:

 

The board unanimously approved Julie Treher to fill the vacant board position.

 

Regretfully, the board accepted the resignation of board member:   Valerie Heath.

 

Nominations for the vacant board member were tabled until the October 2004 meeting.

 

Old Business:

(a)  Committee Reports and Activities:

 

1.      Drills/ Training

·        The final practice for the RBCERTAA Patriot’s  Day skit was held prior to the board meeting

 

·        Next CERT class begins September 9th, 2004

·        Next CERT drill on Sunday, September 19th, 2004 at 5:00 PM by phone tree phone tree

Notification

·        Mike Grady stated that Rick Martinez told him we are out of CERT  applications

 

2.      Phone tree – Mike and Julie have been working on the phone tree, to get it in order for the upcoming drill

 

3.      Randy Stacy Scholarship Fund – Margot Hoffman and Julie Treher will begin working on

      plans for the scholarship committee.

 

4.      Graduation Day Committee – Per Lisa Burke the committee is coordinated and gearing up

      for RBCERT graduation on October 30th, 2004     

 

New Business:

 

President  Garth McWhorter  requested that the board start tracking volunteer hours used to work on various RBCERTAA activities,  so RBCERTAA could qualify to  receive awards for “Volunteer Recognition Program”.  Vice President,  Alisa Zells will create a form to compile volunteer hours starting with August 2004.

 

Announcements:

 

Mike Grady provided a check for $25.00 from John Moawad given to Melissa Stacy after her father’s death.

 

Mike Grady advised that one of his customers is a wholesaler who can provide RBCERTAA with polo shirts in multiple colors for $11.00 each. An order was placed for 48 shirts  of  various sizes.

 

The Beach Cities Health District adjourned a meeting in loving memory of Randy Stacy.

 

Adjournment:

 

The Mayor and City Council members adjourned a meeting in memory of Randy Stacy.

Garth  presented a copy of the  adjournment certificate in memory of Randy Stacy from Redondo Beach City Council meeting to Julie Treher.  The original is with the memorial display at Independent Repair.
